Cuba was, until now, one of the greatest experiences of my life. I arrived to Havanna in June, a hot season, but fortunately It wasn´t as humed as I thought it was gonna be. I was saved by an unexpected breeze many times.
This country is not like anything you would imagine, even if you´ve read a lot about it, you´lle be surprised eather way. I´ll refer to Havanna especifically. Havanna has a quality that I don´t now if it´s because of the people, the old buildings and cars, or the tremendous stories behind each corner. Understanding Cuba´s history, it´s not an easy job, you can only understand it if you empathise. In their people is the answer, they´re incredibly generous (even when they have nothing else to give), really worm and happy. They´re natural workers, they struggle every day, and that makes them amazingly humble. Unfortunately, to see the actual cuban, to hear the actual stories, you have to go far from the touristic areas. Tourism has made lots of vile changes in people making a living out of it.
I hope you enjoy the Malecon like I did, you can´t miss a sunset there. You should go to Hammel´s alley on sunday, its a wonderful place where afrocubans dance rumba and afro, It´s a fantastic and fun show! Don´t forget to have an icecream at Coppelia, but not in the tourist´s ones, at the cuban ones, even if you have to make a line, it tastes better with the context. Try not to take taxis, you can take an "Almendron" wich is much cheaper and you´ll be travelling in cars of the 50´s. Take the "guagua" If you can, at least once, It plays an important role in cubans life.
I tried to be short, I would write 10 more pages if I could. ENJOY!
